Thank you for the response and sorry for blaming the app so fast! Meanwhile I got hold of a 2nd phone so I can try to reproduce that: First off, I can't seem to make it happen again, not even parts of it. The phone has Android 2.3.3 and you are probably right, I had issues that make me think there is some general audio routing/muting wonkiness and also Google Voice has a tendency to lose the mic, which is fixed by hitting the back button and reloading the screen keyboard. I allowed the Market to update GV the next day (alas, bad for finding out what went wrong) so there's a chance this is why I can't reproduce it and/or this was the problem in first place. I'll keep an eye on it and have it set to investigation mode and keep you posted. :)
